Who We Are
Unauthorized Art is a new company we have formed here in Arcata, to promote and facilitate the creation of significant and meaningful art. Our facility is about 9000 square feet, and the majority of that space is dedicated to studios for local artists. The rest of the space is an art foundry for producing multimedia art of all shapes and sizes. Our foundry will be capable of casting bronze, aluminum, and we are working on organizing annual iron pours. We will also be working to set up glassblowing operations, jewelry facilities, enameling facilities, and different art facilities of all sorts. We are open to all interested and motivated artists, looking for a studio space, or just a place to work. We will be teaching workshops on casting, moldmaking, welding, and other techniques.
We are just getting started, and are open to all inquiries.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

jon robertson (foundry manager)
I'm the guy building the website, so send any suggestions my way.
I got my BFA from San Jose State in 2005, where I met Julie and John. They needed a starving artist to donate his soul, so I volunteered.
I'll also be building the various foundry equipment we're going to need (kilns, furnaces, etc.)
Once the foundry passes final inspection, I'll be living on the premises in the manager's studio.
(and yes, I quite often wear a tuxedo and pose in front of hot pink walls to look super-cool.)
You can check out some of my work here.
Julia Fritz (Unauthorized Art Founder)
Julia got her MFA from San Jose State in 2002, and is the brains behind this insane operation.
Check out some of Julia's work here.
John Hedrick (Janitor)

He insists on being referred to simply as "the janitor", but he also happens to be the guy who made this whole thing possible.
He and Julie own this place, so believe me, the janitor calls the shots around here.
