untitled (2002)

My friends lived at a place with an abandoned wine cellar once. It was an above-ground concrete building with foot-thick concrete walls.

They turned part of it into a recording studio, (awesome acoustics) and left the rest for the mold and spiders.

This was taken in a central hallway, leading off to the different sections.

The only light source is my friend Colin's lighter, held a few inches in front of his face. It was a forty second exposure.

I loved the way the texture of the walls glows that rich shade of amber,

and colin's silhouette seems to have just the right mix of menace and innocence.
